Fort Douglas Utah Military Museum

A comprehensive renovation of the historic Fort Douglas Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah, this project reimagines the space to support clearer storytelling, improved circulation, and a more engaging visitor experience while preserving the building’s legacy.

Through an integrated approach that brings together architecture, interiors, and exhibit design, the museum is being updated as a cohesive environment rather than a series of layered additions. Strategic planning is focused on improving wayfinding, enhancing the visibility of key artifacts, and creating a more intuitive and immersive journey through Utah’s military history.

Careful interior updates, refined material selections, and targeted lighting interventions elevate the exhibit experience while maintaining a respectful dialogue with the existing structure. Behind the scenes, upgrades to accessibility, systems, and flexibility ensure the museum can adapt and perform well for years to come.
