Onyx Design Collective is a young design firm that is devoted to smart, innovative, and one of a kind architectural projects. At this time we are looking for a full time Interior Designer. We desire a detailed and motivated individual who is able to assist in the design, detailing, and oversight of multiple residential and commercial projects. You will work directly with the Design Principal and will play a lead role in design and development of projects. You will also assist in all aspects of the production of construction drawings. These tasks include completing red lines, developing plans, interior elevations, finish schedules, fixture schedules as well as furniture, fixture, and color selections. Compensation will depend on experience.

Position Summary:

Provides assistance throughout the building design process, including programming, preparation of design and construction documents, presentation materials, schematic design, design development and contract documents, model building, renderings and construction administration activities office guidance.

DESIGN

  • Provides design support to project team members, which may include basic design plans, elevations and details, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design, furniture layouts, ergonomic dimensions, finish plans, color plans and schedules.

  • Can apply basic elements and principles of design including form, scale, color, texture, pattern, light, balance and proportion.

  • Assists in the preparation of presentation materials, color and materials boards, for client presentations.

  • Adheres to firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.

TECHNICAL

  • Assists with information gathering relative to programming analysis, space plans and area calculations.

  • Assists in preparation of interior construction contract documents, including plans, details, sections and schedules. • Assists with color/finish/material and furniture specifications research and selection.

MANAGEMENT

  • Organizes and plans accordingly to execute tasks.

  • Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions and legibility.

EDUCATION:  Professional Degree in Interior Design or related discipline (students welcome to apply)

EXPERIENCE:  0-3 years

  • Basic understanding of interior design theory, applications and construction documentation production

  • Knowledge of CAD and Revit

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Collaborative and professional work ethic

  • Participation in application program requirements for Interior Design Experience Program (IDEP) working towards NCIDQ certification
