Truckee Mixed Use
Overlooking the Truckee River in downtown Reno, this five-story mixed-use renovation was envisioned as a catalyst for revitalization within one of the city’s evolving urban corridors. The project focused on transforming an aging structure into a more vibrant and contemporary destination that better connects with the surrounding streetscape, riverfront activity, and growing downtown energy.
The scope included a comprehensive exterior façade modernization for the ground-level retail and restaurant spaces, creating a more inviting pedestrian experience while enhancing visibility and tenant presence along the street. Upper-level apartment units were also updated with new windows and refreshed exterior finishes to improve both building performance and overall aesthetics.
Onyx Design Collective approached the project with a focus on balancing modernization with the character of the existing structure, introducing cleaner architectural lines, updated materials, enhanced transparency, and a more cohesive visual identity. The result is a renewed mixed-use environment that contributes to the continued evolution of downtown Reno while activating the riverfront with a more dynamic and engaging architectural presence.
